As a general rule, I retain a healthy skepticism of research conducted on the web, especially because anyone can post anything they want. However, there are exceptions. I find reputable sites that post digitized images of primary resources very useful. Here are a few to consider.

There are a number of efforts underway to bring the full content of copyrighted and out-of-copyright books to the web. Here are several notable efforts worth looking at.

Buying Books Online
If you buy books online, it is really worth checking out http://www.pricescan.com/home_books.asp. It lets you compare the total cost of a book [price + postage] at all online book retailers by entering author, title or ISBN.
