Coyote Athletics

Our Coyote Athletics teams have seen numerous sports win Summit League titles, compete in national tournaments and playoffs recently. Cheering on the Coyotes is the best way to support our athletes and coaches.

Spirit Squad

One of the most entertaining, high-energy things you will find at USD is our Spirit Squad! Made up of the cheerleading program, dance program and our beloved Charlie Coyote mascot, this team will get you in the game-day mood!

Charlie Coyote

Charlie Coyote is the face of the University of South Dakota. We are committed to creating an exciting and interactive experience with both the student body and the Vermillion community. You will often see Charlie at community events, athletic events and charity events.

Coyote Crazies

They are the easiest group to spot in a crowd with their red and white bibs and loud Coyote cheers. The Coyote Crazies are the most committed student fan base in the region. If you enjoy attending sporting events and getting loud with your friends, this crew was built for you!

student success story

Success story Kristen Quigley smiling.
Many of my favorite memories from USD are athletic, as I love being able to travel across the Midwest with my team and compete for USD. Outside of athletics, I have enjoyed participating in activities hosted by the International Office, as I have been able to learn so much about different cultures and taste their delicious food! A specific highlight of my time at USD was participating in the UDiscover Summer Scholar program, as I was able to conduct my own neuroscience research project and connect with other USD students from a wide variety of majors.
