Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
Our clinic provides appropriate diagnoses of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) with technical assistance to assist with the implementation of clinic recommendations. The diagnosis will allow professionals and families to develop strategies to improve the educational and health outcomes for the person with FASD.
Our Clinic
Schedule and Location
Clinics are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Clinics are held on the first Tuesday of each month in Rapid City, South Dakota. School/program/agency personnel and families are invited to participate in any or all of the evaluation process.
Team of Professionals
The clinic consists of many team members whose areas of expertise may include:
- Clinical psychology
- Audiology
- Education
- Genetics
- Psychiatry
- Social work
Other components may be added, if necessary.

Family Services
Family services are a central component of the clinic. Family members are encouraged to access the information and resources available at the Wegner Health Science Information Center.
Student Training
Student training is an important part of the FASD clinic. Graduate and doctoral-level students may observe or participate in clinic.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis, as appropriate, will be made based on the Institutes of Medicine's fetal alcohol spectrum disorders classification system.
Referral Procedure
Referrals may be made for people of any age. An intake packet will be sent out after a referral is received. The referred individual will be scheduled into the clinic once the necessary paperwork is returned.
