“The CPA Showcase gives students an amazing opportunity to interact with professionals in various accounting professions and gives the students an idea of what a day in the life of an accounting professional looks like,” said Derek Franken, accounting and finance instructor.

A total of 128 primary accounting students attended the event. Attendees were able to meet CPAs and recent graduates in various areas of employment, learn more about the CPA profession and network with business representatives. Students also learned what the accounting field has to offer through an open panel with the businesses.

The showcase was set up in a question-and-answer format, allowing students to ask anything they were interested in knowing about the various industries and careers with the goal of helping students determine whether a career in the accounting field would be a good fit for them.

Students were able to meet with business representatives from several companies, including the following.

  • Eide Bailly LLP
  • ELO CPAs & Advisors
  • Raven Industries
  • Schoeneman’s Building Materials Center
  • Wohlenberg Ritzman & Co., LLC
  • Woltman Group, PC
  • Great Western Bank
  • Dorsey & Whitney Trust Company LLC
  • Poet
  • Furniture Mart USA, Inc.
  • Buss CPA, PC

“Ultimately, the CPA Showcase is a wonderful introduction to the accounting world and a great networking opportunity with industry professionals,” Franken said.
