Seven students from various South Dakota high schools are attending the camp. Throughout the week, they will have the opportunity to evaluate basic business analytics processes, develop potential project plans, virtually network with industry leaders across the nation and tour analytics companies in Sioux Falls.

“The business analytics field is growing exponentially, and it’s important to get students interested early on,” said Reed Muehler, instructor of economics at the Beacom School of Business. “This camp is a great way for students to learn more about business analytics in a fun atmosphere and see if this field is something they would like to pursue in a future major or career.”

While much of their time will be spent working on projects in the state-of-the-art Ellis Finance & Analytics Lab, participating students will also be able to meet with admissions and explore different areas of campus, including the Muenster University Center, Coyote Village, the USD Wellness Center, the USD Esports Arena and the National Music Museum.

“This camp allows high school students to take advantage of unique academic-related experiences while also giving them the chance to get a glimpse of campus life before becoming a USD student,” Muehler said. “We hope that this camp opens the door for high school students in not only the area of business analytics but also in higher education.”
