Thirty-four student teams made up of 68 students, under the guidance of 23 faculty mentors will help 34 small businesses in South Dakota solve critical problems for their organization this semester.

The Coyote Business Consulting Group is a student-centered initiative that was launched in 2020 during the first outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic designed to help businesses solve critical problems for their organization stay competitive in South Dakota and throughout the region. The program also provides students with an opportunity to receive academic credits, financial support and real-world experience.

“I am delighted the success of the first two rounds of the Coyote Business Consulting. The student and faculty teams have had a positive impact across the state and more importantly, in the rural communities,” said Venky Venkatachalam, Ph.D., dean of the USD Beacom School of Business. “This success has energized us to continue serving the state by engaging more small businesses across South Dakota.”

With this program undergoing its third year in the making, the Coyote Business Consulting Group has cumulatively served 29 South Dakota counties across the state of South Dakota. We are proud to announce this initiative has facilitated 90 total projects with nearly 180 students participating.
