At the event, the USD SHRM Student Chapter #5283 was honored with a 2024-2025 Superior Merit Award for outstanding programming, leadership and engagement. The award recognizes student chapters that excel in operations, professional development, advocacy and SHRM involvement.

SHRM President and CEO Johnny C. Taylor Jr. commended the chapter.

“The dedication and achievements of USD Student Chapter #5283 demonstrate that the profession’s future is in capable and inspired hands,” said Taylor Jr.

The USD SHRM Student Chapter #5283 continues to grow its presence on campus and throughout the tri-state region, forging connections with local SHRM professionals and employers.

In addition to receiving this honor, attendees from USD experienced a breadth of opportunities to learn from industry leaders. The conference hosted over 20,000 attendees and featured more than 600 sessions led by top voices in the industry. The SHRM Expo also highlighted cutting-edge HR technologies and business solutions, featuring companies like Rippling, ADP, Upwork and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"The students gained an opportunity to listen to Fortune 100 CEOs and thought leaders in artificial intelligence, strategic human resource management and ethics and culture, in one of the most fabulous venues in the United States, in some of the finest weather in the world,” said Donovan.
