Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies to Host Discussion About Reproductive Health Care
The University of South Dakota Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies Program is hosting an event titled “SD After Roe: A conversation with experts in law, policy and health care” to discuss the status of reproductive healthcare in South Dakota. The event will be held on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in Farber Hall, located inside Old Main.

The event will feature faculty and experts from USD, Sanford Health and South Dakota Urban Indian Health. Following the panel discussion, the audience can ask questions, if time permits.
Topics of discussion will include the Supreme Court decision of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, South Dakota abortion law, public opinion data in South Dakota, reproductive health care practice and access, and long-term political and social implications.
“The panel discussion will help attendees understand the Dobbs Supreme Court decision and its implications for the state of South Dakota,” said Sara Lampert, Ph.D., Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies program coordinator. “Attending this event will help South Dakotans learn about abortion policy and reproductive health care from an academic perspective focused on the particular situation in South Dakota.”
The event is free and open to the public and there will be light refreshments at 6:30 p.m.
