Coyote Clinic Celebrates 20 Years of Service and Professional Training
Every Monday and Tuesday evening, you can find SSOM students providing essential health services to the Sioux Falls community via the Coyote Clinic, held at Avera’s Downtown Clinic site. A student-run initiative, the Coyote Clinic not only helps the community’s uninsured, but also offers invaluable hands-on experience for future healthcare professionals.
Now celebrating 20 years of operations, the Coyote Clinic has become a vital resource for the community serving thousands of patients through its outreach. The internal medicine clinic, held every Tuesday evening, has recorded 2,169 patient visits, while the Coyote Behavioral Health Clinic, a more recent endeavor established in 2019, has served nearly 40 patients.
Beyond these numbers, the clinic has also been influential in shaping the education of hundreds of medical and health care students by giving them meaningful, real-world clinical experiences in patient care, leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration.
