USD Sanford School of Medicine to Host Hooding Ceremony on May 8
The ceremony will recognize graduates from the Class of 2026 as the new physicians move on to the next stage of their training at clinics, hospitals and health care facilities across the nation.
The event will take place at the Sanford Pentagon. The keynote speaker and additional ceremony details will be announced at a later date.
USD will host commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, South Dakota. The graduate/professional ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. and students will receive further instruction via email.

Professor Dongming Mei, Ph.D., and his research group in the University of South Dakota’s Department of Physics have published the team’s first quantum-computing paper, “Phonon-coupled hole-spin qubits in high-purity germanium: design and modeling of a scalable architecture,” in Quantum Science and Technology, a leading journal in the quantum field.
Students in the Public Service Pathways Pilot Program Complete First Semester
Nine University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law students have spent the entire fall semester working in public sector law offices across the state. Their supervised practice experience is part of the Public Service Pathway to Bar Admission Pilot Program, implemented by the South Dakota Supreme Court last spring.
