Dr. Prunuske is a leader in innovative health science education. With a background rooted in basic science laboratory research (PhD and postdoctoral training), Dr. Prunuske received further training in scientific teaching and health science professional education. Dr. Prunuske's career has included leading foundational science curriculum at the U of Minnesota Medical School and playing a pivotal role in founding a regional medical campus for the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). They are recognized for developing a new MCW curriculum and forging impactful community partnerships, notably a pathway to medical school program, before assuming the role of Associate Dean of Medical Education at USDSOM.
Foundational Sciences and Scholarly Activities
My research interests broadly encompass the scholarship of teaching and learning within health science professional education, with a particular focus on innovative curriculum design and delivery. I am specifically interested in the integration of foundational sciences into clinical reasoning, the efficacy of pathway programs for rural students, and the development of faculty expertise in pedagogical best practices.
