Ugrich, a music history and instrumental conducting double Master’s degree student from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, will host a panel with Tom Attah, professor of music at Salford University, and Andrew Scott, professor of music from Humber College in Canada. His paper is titled, “For You: A study of the neglected guitar style of Prince.” He said Prince’s guitar skill was an inspiration for his own study of music.

“Prince was able to say a lot with just a few notes still playing with emotion and fury,” said Ugrich. “Yet, he made few mistakes during live performances. He was an extraordinary musician.”

The conference is sponsored by University of Salford and Middle Tennessee State University and will include keynote speakers such as Dez Dickerson, Prince and The Revolution’s original guitarist.
