The Teacher Pathway program is a partnership between the School of Education and the Sioux Falls School District that is designed to introduce high school students to the teaching profession and culturally responsive practices by allowing them to experience a day-in-the-life of a USD education major. The students that attend are able to sit in on education classes, learn about campus resources pertaining to diversity and speak with current education majors about their journey to discovering USD and the teaching profession.

"The Sioux Falls School District is grateful for the partnership with the University of South Dakota in providing this opportunity for current students and future educators," said James Nold, Ed.D., assistant superintendent of the Sioux Falls School District. "Our students will be given the ability to peer into the life of a college education major and experience the college classroom firsthand.”

The School of Education hosted the inaugural event this February and welcomed students from Washington, Lincoln and Roosevelt High Schools. A large number of students were able to participate in the event, and because of its success, the School of Education plans to continue the program in the future.
