Schweinle Named Dean of USD School of Education
Since 2003, Schweinle has held several roles at USD, including assistant professor, associate professor, full professor, and then chair of statistics and educational psychology in the Division of Counseling and Psychology in Education; program coordinator for the Human Development and Educational Psychology Program; and associate dean of Research and Graduate Studies. She was appointed the School of Education interim dean in 2019.
“It is a unique experience to be appointed dean of a college during a global pandemic, but as interim dean, Schweinle has exemplified persistence, competence and ingenuity in moving the School of Education forward,” said USD President Sheila K. Gestring. “Through her past roles and experience, she has demonstrated that she understands the needs and the faculty, staff, students and affiliates of the School of Education.”
Schweinle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Midwestern State University and her Master of Science and Ph.D. in experimental psychology, both from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Schweinle succeeds former dean Donald Easton-Brooks, who resigned in 2019.
