University of South Dakota Center for Brain and Behavior Research Presents Program About Suicide
The program, titled “Suicide Prevention,” will be presented Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at USD’s Health Science Center, located at 1400 W. 22nd Street, on the Sanford health campus in Sioux Falls. The program will be presented via live video on the USD campus in Vermillion in the Lee Medical Building, Room 107. There is no fee required to attend this forum.
Presenters from local and national organizations and institutions will enrich the program. Representatives from local organizations, including Sheri Nelson of the Helpline Center, Jenifer Schramm of the Sioux Falls Veterans Administration (VA) and Anne Dilenschneider of New Idea Counseling, will speak and answer questions about services available for those who might be at risk.
Yogesh Dwivedi, professor of psychiatry at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and Emily Ansell, associate professor of psychology at Syracuse University, will explain and answer questions regarding their cutting-edge work on suicide and suicide prevention.
Program attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about local resources for the treatment of mental health disorders and support for those who have lost someone to suicide.
