University of South Dakota CSA Employees Recognized as Employees of the Month
Recipients include Anne Hinseth, Joy Molland and Betsy Spokas.
October: Anne Hinseth
As a library technology librarian at I.D. Weeks Library, Hinseth was nominated for her willingness to go the extra mile. In her time at USD, she has been instrumental in setting up and maintaining the library’s FromThePage crowdsourcing platform. She has created a libguide for FTP, built collection projects, reviewed thousands of transcribed pages and uploaded transcriptions to the digital library cataloging software.
Hinseth has stepped in to lead projects related to maintaining and upgrading FromThePage. Co-workers said she consistently produces high-quality work and welcomes new tasks, even when above and beyond her current job duties. Congratulations, Anne!
November: Joy Molland
Molland, who is a senior secretary and proctor at USD –- Sioux Falls, was nominated for being personable, supportive and focused on students’ needs. Molland’s contributions support a positive experience for students at the Sioux Falls Testing Center; one student said the center was “convenient, easy to schedule and provided a great testing atmosphere. The staff was very professional and helpful.”
Molland’s attention to detail and consistency, as well as her expertise, make her an essential part of USD – Sioux Falls. She exemplifies what it means to serve those working to better their lives and communities through education. Congratulations, Joy!
November: Betsy Spokas
Spokas, a senior administrative assistant in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, and has been with USD for seven years. She coordinates various activities for the department that require exceptional efficiency, organization and attention to detail—all qualities she demonstrates consistently. Coworkers admire her ability to manage complex logistical tasks with precision.
Spokas takes her responsibility of managing departmental funds seriously and ensures that all transactions are handled accurately. She is proactive in her approach to professional development, attending training sessions regularly. Her friendly demeanor creates a welcoming atmosphere to students, faculty and visitors. Congratulations, Betsy!
Each honoree receives a $500 award, a discount at Charlie’s Bookstore & Fan Shop, $25 in Coyote Cash, and a department reception—part of the revamped recognition program that was introduced by President Gestring in fall 2025.
