USD Alumna and Assistant Director of Admissions Selected to Attend ROTC Leadership Symposium
The annual Cadet Summer Training – Leadership Symposium is held to expose community leaders and educators to ROTC’s approach to leadership development through hands-on participation and interaction with cadets and in-depth discussion with Army Officers about their career experience. The goal of the symposium is to promote understanding and appreciation of the world-class leadership development process used to transform Army ROTC cadets into future Army leaders.
“It is an honor to be selected to attend the Army ROTC symposium,” said Peterson. “I am grateful to the USD ROTC program for this nomination and their continued partnership with the Office of Admissions in recruiting talented, driven students to USD. I look forward to participating in the Cadet Summer Training – Leadership Symposium and connecting with others from around the nation.”
Peterson was nominated by the USD ROTC program for her help in promoting Army ROTC during the USD admissions process as well as coordinating with the ROTC cadre and students who have expressed interest in serving in the military.
“We are incredibly proud of Mrs. Peterson for being selected for this opportunity,” Cpt. Douglas A. Wencl, assistant professor of military science, said. “She has been influential in promoting our ROTC program to interested students, directly increasing our enrollment by 25% this year. We hope her experience at the Cadet Summer Training – Leadership Symposium serves as a beneficial tool to expand upon her view and understanding of Army ROTC and our leadership development program.”
In addition to the events offered by the symposium, Peterson was selected to conduct a tandem jump with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team.
