USD Alums Present Art and Poetry Exhibit
Emerging artist Brian Joel Damon ‘80 and national award-winning writer Paula Bosco Damon ’91, ’93, both of McCook Lake, South Dakota.
The exhibit, consisting of 16 paintings and seven poems, is on display in the library’s first and second floor galleries. Presenting a wide body of work in this traveling show, “Intrepid Coalescing” is a courageous attempt to marry the Damon’s distinctively diverse perspectives on their journey together, spanning nearly 50 years.
Previously, the traveling exhibit was on display at the Le Mars, Iowa, Art Center and the North Sioux City Community Library.
When Brian Damon recently retired from a 42-year career as a psychotherapist, he returned to college to pursue an art degree and began painting in 2013. His artwork has been selected for more than 20 juried regional exhibits, including in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Norfolk, Nebraska; and Sioux City and Le Mars, Iowa.
Over the years, Paula Bosco Damon’s writing has garnered numerous top honors, including many first place awards in national and state writing competitions. After a long career in marketing communications, she retired in 2014. Today, the author is a marketing communications consultant and syndicated newspaper columnist at the Vermillion Plain Talk.
