USD Doctorate Student Honored by EMBE
Jyoti Angal, M.P.H., director of clinical research at the Avera Center for Pediatric & Community Research in Sioux Falls and a Doctor of Philosophy student in the University of South Dakota’s health sciences program, was awarded the 2020 EMBE Tribute to Women Award in the health care and STEM category.
Angal has a deep interest in addressing health disparities through research, and focuses it and her leadership efforts on structuring and coordinating research studies in American Indian and tribal communities.
The 2020 awards was the 47th annual tribute, sponsored by EMBE, honoring the contributions of women in the Sioux Falls region. Awards were presented in nine categories. The mission of EMBE, based in Sioux Falls, is to encourage and empower women to transform and advance their lives and their communities.
USD’s interprofessional health sciences doctorate degree was launched in 2016. The program prepares practicing health care professionals to assume leadership roles in academia, research and/or health and human services settings.
