USD Offers Free COVID-19 Saliva Testing to Community
Saliva testing will be available in the Muenster University Center Pit Lounge Mondays-Fridays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., beginning Monday, March 15.
“The ‘Know Before You Go – Spring Break Edition’ testing last week was such a success,” said Kevin O’Kelley, assistant vice president of research compliance and the head of USD’s COVID-19 Case Management Team. “More than 1,000 tests were administered, and four positive asymptomatic cases were detected. This is a testament to the dedication of our students, faculty and staff to #ProtectThePack, and it shows that testing is an excellent way to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect our loved ones.”
There will be free, one-hour parking for community members participating in the COVID-19 testing in the Muenster University Center visitor parking lot and in the Burr House parking lot. Community members will receive a $10 Charlie’s Bookstore & Fan Shop gift card and a sweet treat. All ages are welcome.
USD students, faculty and staff are encouraged to get tested regularly using this simple, convenient option.
“We are nearing the end of the semester, and more and more people are starting to get vaccinated,” said O’Kelley. “We are so close to the light at the end of the tunnel. Testing is just one way we can get there quicker and protect the health and safety of our community.”
The saliva testing is funded by the South Dakota Department of Health.
