USD Sanford School of Medicine Alumni Honors Dr Susan Anderson
The University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine Alumni Relations Council has named Dr. Susan Anderson as the school’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni. The award honors a graduate of the medical school who graduated at least ten years prior to being nominated and has an ongoing interest and involvement in the medical school.
Dr. Anderson, of Canistota, South Dakota, is a member of the USD Sanford School of Medicine Class of 1997. In addition to maintaining a private practice in Sioux Falls and Canistota, she has served as chair of the department of family medicine at the medical school since 2014, directs the school’s FARM (Farm and Rural Medicine) program and leads the South Dakota Area Health Education Center as program director. In 2012 Anderson was appointed to serve on Governor Dennis Daugaard’s Primary Care Task Force, and she is a graduate of the Hedwig van Amerigen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program.
