USD Theatre Presents title of show
In this charming and hilarious show, two guys set out to write a musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical. Hunter and Jeff develop their musical before the audience’s eyes, assisted by their best friends, Heidi and Susan. "[title of show]" features two different casts. Seating is limited, so it is recommended to purchase tickets prior to the day-of performance.
Director Matt Nesmith is an associate professor in the USD Department of Theatre and is looking forward to directing a musical in the intimate setting of the Arena Theatre. “’[title of show]’ is funny, witty and endearing,” he said. “It has great music and provides an honest, unapologetic and poignant window into the creative artist inside each and every one of us who’s yearning to express themselves, and to the lasting friendships that sustain us through all of our highs and lows.”
Senior B.F.A. musical theatre major Mariah Seeley is excited for her first live and in-person show at USD in two years. “Everyone should see '[title of show]' because whether they come one night, two nights or every night, they will get something fresh each time,” said Seeley. “We have a dual cast which means twice the comedy from twice the incredible actors.”
At times irreverent and snarky, “[title of show]” is also a touching show that tackles everything from chasing dreams to overcoming insecurities to making meaningful human connections.
“[title of show]” performs Oct. 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance on Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Arena Theatre on the USD campus. Tickets ($15 Adults, $12 Senior Citizen [62+], $10 K-12 & non-USD students with ID, and free for USD students with ID) can be purchased in the afternoons (noon–5 p.m.) starting Sept. 16 at the USD Theatre Box Office or by calling 605-58-3484.
