USD to Host Annual Three Minute Thesis Competition in February 2023

“The 3MT competition is unlike any other – it is both a challenge and a showcase for students” said Brittany Wagner, director of Graduate Education. “Students really have to be thoughtful about condensing years of research into such a short timeframe. The final presentation is really incredible.”
The USD 3MT competition is hosted by the Graduate School and celebrates research being done by students at USD. The competition provides graduate students with an opportunity to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes.
The first-place presentation will receive $350 and advancement to the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) Regional 3MT Competition scheduled for March 29-31, 2023, in Chicago. The second-place student will be awarded $250, and the third-place student will be awarded $150.
Both the preliminary and final competition rounds are free and open to the public. The rounds will also be livestreamed from the USD Graduate School Facebook page.
