OLLI at USD is currently replacing our online membership and course enrollment system. Online membership enrollment should be available by late July. Online course enrollment will be available by mid August. Current OLLI members will be notified when membership and course enrollment are available. Thank you for your support as we make this change.

Registration opens at a preset time each term. Members can log into the registration system and select classes at the appointed time or later. Members can also mail their course selections to our office and we will enter their selections after registration opens. Finally, members can call the office for assistance with registration.

Some classes fill quickly. Registering online is the best chance of getting into popular classes. Mailed registration forms are entered in the order in which they were received after registration opens.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many classes can I take?

Membership in OLLI entitles you to take as many classes and workshops as you want, as well as attend as many special events or other activities as you can fit into your schedule! We only ask that you cancel your registration should you decide before class starts that you can not attend after all. This frees up your seat for someone else and also allows us to prepare an accurate number of handouts for the class.

How often are classes offered?

Classes are offered two times per year: Fall (September-November) and Spring (March-May). Classes are offered five days per week, with a few on Saturday, at a variety of sites to make it easier and more convenient to attend. Additional special events are offered throughout the year, and include a wide variety of activities: social events, speakers, field trips and more.

In the event I change my mind or am not able to attend classes, is the membership fee refundable?

Since we are a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to enhance the lives of South Dakota's "seasoned" adults, OLLI's policy is that we do not refund membership fees. However, if you wish to transfer your membership to another person, you may call us and we will assist you.

What if I can't attend all the class sessions? Can I still register?

Yes, you can still register for classes even if you know you will not attend all sessions. We ask that if you are not able to attend at least half of the sessions of a regular class, please let us know as it will affect how many people can register for the class.

Where are classes held?

Currently we offer courses at a variety of locations in Sioux Falls, Brookings, Vermillion, Chamberlain, Pierre and De Smet. Specific course locations are indicated for each course online and in the course catalog mailed to members each term.

Can I teach for OLLI or be a volunteer?

Yes! Please contact us for information on teaching or volunteering for OLLI. You can Support OLLI and learn about volunteer opportunities or you can Teach for OLLI and learn about teaching with OLLI and find our downloadable a course proposal form.

What happens when the weather is bad?

If the public school system cancels classes due to weather in the community where your class is being held, OLLI classes will also be cancelled. The Director of OLLI reserves the right to cancel classes in the event of bad weather, even if the public schools do not cancel. In the event of a weather related cancellation, emails will be sent to OLLI members with email addresses who are enrolled in classes that day. OLLI will also post information on the OLLI website and will have information on the OLLI telephone voicemail system. If you have any questions, please call us for weather related closings. And stay safe.
