If you have completed a bachelor’s degree in economics or in any business field, the Economics Certificate program is for you. It is also applicable for students with bachelor’s degrees in any field, provided they have taken Principles of Micro and Macro Economics and an Introductory Statistics course.

Throughout the program, you’ll learn to engage in cost-benefit analysis and apply it to decision making; learn how markets work and how market outcomes are affected by institutional arrangements and policy choices; learn how economic policy choices change market outcomes, and identify who benefits and who is harmed by economic policy decisions; as well as apply course materials to real world situations and think critically about complex market situations. Post-program career outcomes include positions as analysts, economists, bankers, financial planners, financial services, insurance and general management.

The Economics Specialization and the Economics Certificate will allow students to augment their knowledge base by studying in key areas of our economy.  The courses regularly offered in these programs are generally applied in nature, and all have a strong foundation in understanding the effects of public policy. Students can select from these and other course offerings and all courses will help develop the student’s critical thinking skills and analytical abilities, particular in important policy areas. Overall, the Economics Specialization and the Economics Certificate offer the student a path to increase their understanding of a broad range of market interactions and their related policy implications.
