Swatting Response and Safety Resources

Swatting

In recent weeks, colleges and universities across the United States and Canada have experienced a troubling rise in active shooter hoax calls, sometimes referred to as "swatting". These incidents are designed to cause fear, confusion and disruption, and they place unnecessary emotional strain on our campus communities.

The University of South Dakota Police Department actively works with local, state and federal law enforcement partners to ensure we remain well-informed and properly prepared to respond should such a situation occur here. While these calls are hoaxes, our response must always be immediate and thorough. The safety of our university community is our top priority.
