We have daily classes, personal trainers and state-of-the-art facilities that will provide you with all the tools necessary to reach your potential.
The Wellness Center is located directly north of the Warren M. Lee Center for Fine Arts.

The Wellness Center is free to all USD students taking one or more USD credit hour. Our benefit eligible Faculty/Staff receive ½ off their membership fees. USD Values our community and is proud to offer community memberships to our facility. Community rates can be found below.

Membership Forms
Interested in becoming a member? Print out the membership paperwork below and bring it to room 102 in the Wellness Center. It only takes 15 minutes of your time to get set up as a member! Be sure to view the Wellness Center policies before you join.
Renewing Memberships
Renewing your membership is easy. Once you have joined, you can renew your membership in a variety of ways.
- Over the phone – Members can call with their credit or debit card information and register over the phone. (Member card information is not stored at the Wellness Center for security reasons).
- Online – Memberships can be renewed online. You must log in and click on your username. Membership information can be found by choosing profile.
- In-person – stop in room 102 at the Wellness Center to renew in person.

Gift Certificates
Gift certificates can be purchased for any amount and can be used toward any service. Whether you choose to purchase one for a membership, a rock wall party or any of our personal training services, the gift of fitness is always a great choice!

Health Care Reimbursement
Check with your insurance company to see if you can receive monetary incentives towards membership. If your insurance company is a member of one of these programs, you may be able to receive a discounted Wellness Center membership.
ASHLink (Silver & Fit)
The Silver & Fit Program is a Medicare or Medica related program designed for older adults. Visit the website to see if your insurance is part of this program.
Silver Sneakers
Silver Sneakers is program that provides seniors on Medicare with the opportunity to get a FREE membership to the USD Wellness Center. This membership includes access to any of the participating gyms in the network. The Wellness Center is just one of 15,000 locations that participate nationwide. Bring your Silver Sneakers membership card to get your membership set up at our facility.
National Independent Health Club Association (NICHA)
NIHCA partners with several insurance programs in the Midwest to provide you reimbursement towards your USD Wellness Center membership. Most programs will reimburse members up to $20 month just for visiting anywhere from 8-12 times. To enroll visit the NICHA rewards website.
Renew Active/One Pass by UnitedHealthcare
One Pass is a single membership that gives you access to a nationwide network of fitness locations, including the USD Wellness Center. Renew active is a fitness program designed with the goal of helping Medicare members reach fitness goals and stimulate their brains. This program is available with select UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans and includes a membership to the Wellness Center at no extra cost and online exercises and activities to support brain health. To register for this program, go to https://www.partneroptumfitness.com/ to receive an enrollment number. Bring this number and your insurance card to room 102 to sign up today!
Rules & Regulations
As a recreation facility that caters to students, faculty, staff and community users, following the rules and safety provisions set up by the Wellness Center is very important. A valid University ID card or registered membership is required to enter.
The Wellness Center is able to facilitate an array of activities such as: basketball, volleyball, flag football, racquetball, tennis, soccer, running/jogging, weight lifting, cardio machines, swimming, aerobics, yoga and spinning.
The following rules are in place for these activities:
- Anyone under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Guest passes on a per visit basis are available for $7 with an ID and signed waiver.
- No sandals, open-toed shoes or boots are allowed in any activity area.
- A clean, appropriate athletic top must be worn and cover the breast. Bottoms must fully cover the buttocks and private areas.
- Is it okay to wear just a sports bra? If a sports bra is designed as an athletic piece of clothing designed to be worn by itself when working out, it is allowed. With the number of variations of athletic tops/sports bras, we don’t want our staff to have to make subjective judgement calls about whether something is appropriate (as long as it meets the requirements of being a piece of athletic clothing and covering the breast).
- Cell phones are not allowed in open view in the men's or women's locker rooms.
- No spitting on floors, walls, water fountains, restroom sinks, etc.
- Headphones must be used with all personal radios and other electronic listening devices.
- The possession, use and/or distribution of alcoholic beverages, drugs, tobacco products and dangerous weapons are not allowed in any facility, as defined by University Student Code of Conduct.
- Bicycles must be stored in the racks provided outside the facilities (please lock your bike).
- The Wellness Center is not responsible for any personal items left unattended and/or unsecured in any facility. Personal items may be locked in day-use lockers that are available in both the men's and women's locker rooms.
- Outside groups or individuals will be prohibited from promoting or marketing a product or service that has not been endorsed by the University of South Dakota or the USD Wellness Center.
The age following guidelines will be followed in regards to facility usage:
Ages 5 & Up
- Utilize the rock wall with parent in pit
Ages 6 & Up
- Utilize the track with supervision
- Use the courts with supervision
- Use the Dakotadome Pool with supervision
Ages 10-11
- Attend Group Fitness classes if accompanied by a parent/legal guardian
Ages 12-13
- Use cardio and weight equipment
Failure to abide by these policies and/or regulations posted in facilities or requests made by any campus recreation employee can result in ejection or suspension from the building and program privileges.
Certain activities are prohibited in the Wellness Center during recreational hours. The list below provides examples; however, the Wellness Center office reserves the right to ban any activity they deem unsafe.
- No baseball/softball activities will be allowed.
- No activity of any kind is allowed on the concourse.
- No flying of electric or battery powered model planes.
- No organized boxing or related mixed martial art activities.
- No wrestling
- No golf.
- No skateboards.
- No rollerblades (exception for MAC).
- Personal Training is not allowed by non-USD Wellness Center personnel.
- We strongly discourage any outside equipment inside the Wellness Center for recreational purposes.
- No balloons of any size.
- Animals are not permitted in facility, except trained service animals.

Rentals & Reservations
The Wellness Center is happy to rent out the climbing wall, studios, MAC court and Basketball/Volleyball Courts. Renting facilities is easy and affordable! Just follow the steps below:
- Complete Rental Request Form.
- Climbing Wall - $40/hour
- Studio/Courts - $20/hour
- Review Wellness Center Policies.
- Ensure all individuals have either an Adult Waiver or Minor Waiver.
- Complete payment of rental at least five days prior to event.
NOTE: Members may rent the courts and studios for free for up to three hours per week with proper completed forms.

USD Wellness Center Youth Basketball Program
The Wellness Center invites youth in grades 1-6 to participate in our Youth Basketball Program.
Games will be played Saturday mornings between 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Our 5/6 grade players are invited to sign their teams up. We will not be doing individual registrations for this age group this year. Starting October 1, Vermillion residents in grades 1-4 will be available to sign up individually, while out-of-town teams will be required to sign up as a team. More details can be found on our website.

Wellness Wednesdays
Join the Wellness Center for Wellness Wednesdays this Fall
One Wednesday a month the USD Wellness Center will hold Wellness Wednesday. During this event, all students and members will be provided with FREE girth measurements and InBody testing (a $6 value), as well as free samples from local businesses. We will also have programming provided centered around Wellness Topics. Mark your calendars this Fall!

The community is invited to bring their families to the Wellness Center for FREE!
There will be no charge to use the Wellness Center from 1-3 pm on Sunday, November 19. Join us for an afternoon of family fun activities! The Climb Wall will be open, complete the scavenger hut for prizes, play our fitness games, join us for Family Yoga, take pictures with Charlie Coyote, visit our vendor booths and more! We will also be offering $10 off punch passes during this time.
