USD Department of Art to Host Annual SDAEA and SDCAA Conference Oct. 8-10
Hosted by the USD Department of Art, the conference will support art educators through workshops, creating a space to share innovative teaching practices and current industry trends and developments. Attendees also have the opportunity to earn a reduced-cost continuing education credit.
The event will feature world-class artists Alex Kanevsky and Natalie Christensen as keynote speakers. Christensen’s work will be on view in the John A. Day Gallery, located within USD’s University Art Galleries in the Warren M. Lee Center for the Arts.
“Hosting the annual SDAEA and SDCAA conference allows us to create meaningful opportunities for students and aspiring educators from any field can volunteer to attend the conference free of charge. Conference attendees will leave with practical techniques to incorporate new activities into their classrooms,” said Lauren Freese, Ph.D., chair in the Department of Art and associate professor of art history. “By removing barriers to participation, we are providing future teachers with tools and hands-on learning opportunities to prepare them for the classroom.”
