This exhibition highlights each designer’s creative journey, emphasizing growth, experimentation, and the idea that both design and identity are constantly evolving.

Inspired by the concept of transition, the exhibition invites viewers into a space where ideas are never-ending and the work is always in progress. “Still Workin’ on It” reflects the reality of creative development, where refinement, failure and discovery are all essential parts of the process. Each designer brings a unique perspective and range of work, including branding, interactive design, motion and experiential installations.

Through immersive and interactive elements, the show encourages visitors to reflect on their own growth and evolving perspectives as these students complete their journey at USD and move into what comes next.

The exhibition features work from four senior designers:

Jade Bendewald
Exhibition: “Pages of A Wandering Mind”

Bendewald's time at USD has been quite the ride, with loving friendships and relationships built along the way.

“I’ve loved all the people I’ve met and the friendships I’ve built along the way. While it’s bittersweet to see this chapter come to an end, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned and created, and even more excited to see what comes next.”

Emma Johnson
Exhibition: “Bloodline”

Johnson said her time at USD has been full of experiences that both challenge and inspire her—shaping her as a designer and as a person.

“This journey has taught me not only about myself but also about the importance of trusting my own voice. The work in this exhibition is rooted in an original story from my imagination, reflecting my interest in narrative and world-building. Through this process, I’ve discovered that I do my best work when I create with a sense of play and authenticity, rather than comparison. I plan to carry this approach with me into the next chapter of my life.”

Marleen Mülla — Exhibition

Kyle Van Buskirk
Exhibition: “[ Sew Sew ]”

Van Buskirk emphasized the great amount of effort that went into the project—an undertaking that at the same time was challenging and rewarding.

“I am leaving this place with the skills I developed by figuring out one impossible situation after another.”

Visitors can expect an engaging and dynamic environment that blends visual storytelling with hands-on interaction. From layered installations and participatory elements to personal branding concepts, the exhibition transforms the gallery into a space that reflects the ongoing process of change and becoming, both as designers and as individuals.

Admission is free and open to the public, with food and drinks provided.
