Huston holds a Bachelor of Science in journalism and mass communications from Iowa State University and a Master of Arts in library and information science from the University of Iowa. He graduated with his Juris Doctor from the USD Knudson School of Law in 2018.

While a student at the law school, Huston worked at the McKusick Law Library and helped start a student group called Pursuit of Happiness.

Huston comes to the McKusick Law Library after serving as an outreach & student services librarian at the University of Alabama School of Law, Bounds Law Library, where he co-taught a first-year legal research course and provided high-quality, in-depth legal research to faculty, students, attorneys, the judiciary and the public.

At the USD Knudson School of Law, Huston will teach a first-year legal research course, direct the McKusick Law Library’s instructional programs and provide reference assistance.

Huston said he sees this new role as an opportunity to engage with students and faculty as an instructor and law librarian and is “excited to return to Vermillion because it feels like home.”
