The event, which was hosted by Yale Law School, Yale School of the Environment, The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, the Harvard Law School Food Law Policy Clinic and the National Food Law Student Network, featured a variety of lectures and panel discussions covering topics that included ocean and coastal justice, food sovereignty, Indigenous knowledge, sustainable business, and the Farm Bill.

Howes also had the opportunity to participate in a mariculture-themed policy simulation at Yale Law School.

“One of the most interesting parts of the conference was the policy simulation,” Howes said. “I appreciated the exercise as a window into what our own public representatives are tasked with in their everyday work. It was also wonderful to collaborate with students from law schools all over the United States.”

Howes discovered this opportunity through communications from the law school.

“The University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law has no shortage of opportunities, both here on campus and through the opportunities that are presented through career services,” Howes said.
