# Math Scholarships

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers many scholarships for students who pursue math as a field of study.

### Marjorie H. Beaty Math/Computer Science Scholarship

This scholarship is available to mathematics or computer science majors with preference given to South Dakota residents.

### Howard Connors Math Scholarship

This scholarship is available to undergraduate mathematics majors.

### Cleland Cook Math Scholarship

Recipients must be declared majors in mathematics.

### William E. Ekman Scholarship

This scholarship is available to deserving undergraduate mathematics majors with financial need.

### Ekman Gutzman Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship is available to undergraduate math majors who meet requirements of the Coyote Commitment program.

### Wayne W. Gutzman Family Scholarship in Mathematics

This scholarship is available to undergraduate mathematics majors.

### Merten M. Hasse Math Contest Scholarship

Four scholarships are available each year, two to students from large high schools and two to students from smaller high schools.

### Merten M. Hasse Scholarship

An undergraduate math major receives this scholarship each year. Preference is given to a minority student.

### L. Fred and Rose E. Hart Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a master's degree in math.

### Andy E. Karantinos Scholarship

This scholarships is available to sophomore, junior or senior mathematics majors.

### Nelontine Maxwell Larsen Award

This scholarship is given to a graduate student studying math at USD.

### Even and Anne Larson Scholarship

This scholarship is available to junior mathematics majors.

### Thomas Emery McKinney Award

Available to senior mathematics majors.

### Reise Officer Excellence in Mathemathics Scholarship

This scholarship is available to mathematics majors with a 2.5 or better GPA.

### Curtis and Lynda Olson Mathematics Scholarship

This scholarship is available to undergraduate mathematics majors who have completed at least 16 credit hours at USD and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and a cumulative 3.5 math GPA.

### Alexander Pell Scholarship

This scholarship is available to undergraduate or graduate mathematics majors.

### Pi Mu Epsilon/Thomas Emery McKinney Mathematics Award

This joint scholarship is available to senior mathematics majors. The Pi Mu Epsilon Award is given to a member of Pi Mu Epsilon Honor Society.

### Wallace Raab Memorial Scholarship

Preference should be given to students who are math majors.

### Ralph Richardson Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is available to undergraduate mathematics majors. Financial need is considered.

### Royal and Cora Scott Family Scholarship

Recipients must be junior or senior math majors, have graduated from a South Dakota high school and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0.

### Vernon E. Staum Scholarship

First preference for this scholarship is given to math majors, while first consideration is given to students in the USD Scholars program.

### Bessie Kimball Thurber Memorial Scholarship

Deserving undergraduate mathematics majors are eligible for this scholarship.

### David Walish Scholarship in Honor of Howard Connors

This scholarship is available to mathematics majors with preference to upper-division undergraduate students. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

### David Walish Scholarship in Honor of Bill Ekman

Incoming freshmen intending to major in math are eligible for this scholarship.

### Robert L. Walter Scholarship

This scholarship is available to undergraduate mathematics majors with preference for students interested in mathematics education.
