SPURA Application
Briefly describe your research area of interest. Why is this area of research important? How does this interest align with the goals of your selected mentor and the SPURA program (300 words or less)?
What are you hoping to gain in terms of career/professional development by participating in SPURA? Describe your educational background and achievements, including information on barriers (educational, personal, social, and/or cultural) you may have personally faced and how you overcame them. For example, if your family members experienced barriers in higher education, whether you are the first person in your family to go to college, and whether you have experienced a lack of role models or informational resources about higher education and careers. This can also include an optional personal statement regarding your interest in the subject of drug abuse, addiction and related mental health conditions. (500 words or less)

THIS IS AN OPTIONAL QUESTION. Demographic data allows the opportunity for some federal funding agencies to gauge whether its programs in science and technology are fairly reaching and benefiting everyone regardless of demographic category and to ensure that those in under-represented groups have the same knowledge of and access to programs.
