Dear Students,

I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during this time of uncertainty. As we prepare for the summer semester, I am reaching out to provide you with an update about courses offered through the University of South Dakota.

In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the South Dakota Board of Regents made the difficult decision to extend remote instruction through the summer academic term. The university is carefully following the recommendations of public health authorities as we make decisions that prioritize the health and safety of the Coyote community. A few courses are exempt from this remote instruction mandate; students enrolled in those courses have been contacted directly with further details and safety information.

While we are disappointed that we cannot meet face to face, our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing you with a high-quality education.

The university offers a variety of services to ensure you have the support and resources necessary to thrive in any learning environment. Please reach out to us at studentservices@usd.edu to inquire about services available to you.

I am proud of our students, faculty and staff for continuing to demonstrate strength and resilience while taking necessary steps to protect the health of our community. The summer semester will be different than what we had once imagined, but our commitment to you and your education remains unchanged. We are here for you.

Sincerely,

Sheila K. Gestring
President
University of South Dakota
