Thank you for your cooperation this weekend as we worked together to flatten the curve. As you are aware, due to the recent rise in positive COVID-19 cases on campus, USD implemented temporary measures on Aug. 28 intended to limit unnecessary exposure to the virus.
Until a downward trend in positive COVID-19 cases is detected, USD will continue to limit dining services to grab-and-go options and prohibit outside visitors at residence halls. The Muenster University Center will remain open during its normal hours. These are temporary measures and intended to help manage situations where physical distancing and other safety measures may not be observed.
We recognize, however, the important role wellness plays during these unusual times, and we want you to continue taking actions that support your physical and mental well-being. Effective 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, the USD Wellness Center will reopen and return to Phase I of its campus operations plan. Under Phase 1 protocols, the USD Wellness Center will:
- Operate at 30% capacity
- Close an hour early for deep cleaning each night
- Suspend group fitness classes
- Close racquetball and functional training rooms
All outdoor intermural events will continue to be permitted. Indoor intermural events are suspended until further notice.
Please know these are temporary measures intended to limit the spread of COVID-19 and protect our ability to live and learn together on campus this fall. The COVID-19 Task Force is closely reviewing the trend of active cases on campus, and will communicate with you again by Friday, Sept. 4.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to COVID19@usd.edu.
