Dear Campus Community,
As you are likely aware, the South Dakota Board of Regents has required face coverings in all public indoor spaces on campus for the start of fall term. This is considered a Level 3 protocol and will be reviewed 30 days after the start of classes.
USD will open its campus to the public on Saturday, Aug. 1. As a result, USD will require face coverings for students, faculty, staff and visitors effective Aug. 1. Face coverings may include a mask, bandana, shield or any other covering that covers the mouth and nose.
This policy currently only applies to public, shared spaces indoors. If you have a private office, cubicle or workspace where 6’ of physical distancing can be achieved, masks do not need to be worn. Students do not need to wear face coverings in their private residence hall rooms. If you leave your private space (i.e., to walk down a hallway or enter a restroom), a mask is required. We highly encourage our community members to not wait until Aug. 1 to start wearing a face covering, and we thank you for your continued efforts to #ProtectThePack.
If you have any questions or concerns about the face covering policy, please contact COVID19@usd.edu. For more information about USD’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to read USD’s case management plan, visit usd.edu/COVID19.
