Dear Faculty and Staff,

The University of South Dakota has designated a strategic taskforce to continuously monitor the development of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and prepare for a potential case. As of 3/3/20, there are no confirmed or suspected cases in South Dakota.

USD is specifically monitoring countries identified as the highest notice level – “Warning Level 3.” Level 3 means the CDC recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel. Countries currently identified as Level 3 include China, South Korea, Iran and Italy.

If you have plans to travel and find yourself in a Level 3 location prior to your return, please be aware that USD expects employees to self-quarantine for 14 days, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you have questions about leave policy should this occur, please contact Human Resources at hr@usd.edu.

Students will receive travel advisories prior to leaving for spring break. If there is a student concern related to coronavirus and class attendance, please contact Academic Affairs at acadaffairs@usd.edu.

We will continue to update you as developments emerge. For more information on how to protect yourself, visit the CDC website.

Sincerely,

USD COVID-19 Taskforce
