Dear friends, neighbors and colleagues,

As our community prepares for an upswing in local cases of COVID-19, we have learned that our health care system may run short of certain essential supplies. Some of these supplies may exist on USD’s campus, and I ask each of you to search your labs, closets and classrooms and determine what you have extra of. Needed supplies include:

  • Disposable gloves (nitrile, etc.)
  • Disposable gowns, coveralls, Tyvek aprons, etc.
  • Masks (N-95 masks, surgical masks, dust masks, painters mask)
  • Hand sanitizers
  • Goggles, face shields, safety glasses

I ask you to keep only what you need for safe instruction and research, and help USD donate its entire surplus to our local health care community. We will be organizing a collection drive beginning Tuesday, March 31, and ask you to examine your supplies this Monday.

Please contact Kevin O'Kelley at kevin.okelley@usd.edu to arrange for pick-up of your surplus supplies.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our community.

Sincerely,

Sheila K. Gestring
