Dear Campus Community,

We all miss the normalcy of life before COVID-19. We know COVID-19 continues to present challenges in your daily life, but it’s never been more important to remain vigilant and continue to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19.

We’re asking you to double down on your efforts to flatten the curve. As reflected on the USD COVID-19 Dashboard, USD reported 40 current active cases today – nearly triple the number of active cases from two weeks ago. The number of positive cases in South Dakota continues to rise at an alarming rate, and our community is not immune to that increase.

As a college community living and learning in close proximity, we need to be particularly careful; wearing face coverings, washing our hands regularly and maintaining distance from others are important measures we can take to lessen the risk we pose to others. The decisions we make will have a ripple effect across our communities, which is why wearing face coverings on- and off-campus is so important. Please remember that even if you are not showing symptoms of COVID-19, you could be infected.

Now is the time to recommit to making safe decisions and prioritizing the health and safety of our friends, family, classmates and colleagues. Our community is stronger when we all do our part to #ProtectThePack. Please contact us at COVID19@usd.edu to self-report or ask questions about USD’s response to the pandemic, and visit usd.edu/COVID19 for information and resources.
