Dear Campus Community,

In response to numerous requests, the USD Sentinel Testing program has been expanded; in addition to inviting randomly selected faculty, staff and students to be tested, USD now welcomes up to 100 volunteers per week to participate in the program. We especially encourage students living in USD residence halls to participate.

With the support of the South Dakota Department of Health, we are able to offer this test at no charge. All students, staff and faculty are eligible to be tested if you:

  1. Are currently non-symptomatic
  2. Have not had a positive test within the past 90 days
  3. Normally work or attend school on the Vermillion campus

If you are interested in volunteering for this test, please report to Sanford Vermillion drive-thru testing on Tuesday or Wednesday, between 2 – 3:30 p.m. Explain you are voluntarily participating in the USD Sentinel Testing program. We will only be able to test about 100 volunteers per week, so please get there early if you are interested. Please note, the location has changed to the Ambulance Bay, on the Walker Street (east) side of Sanford. From Main Street, please drive south on Plum Street, turn left and go east on Jane Street, and then left again to go north along Walker Street. Please be prompt!

Would you like a ride? Please email deanofstudents@usd.edu.

You may be asking yourself why you would voluntarily subject yourself to a test that if positive, requires you to isolate for a period of time. The answer: You will be truly benefiting your friends, family, fellow students, faculty, colleagues and your community. It is one of the most genuine, altruistic gestures you can do!

Sincerely,

Tim Ridgway, M.D.
