Dear Campus Community,
We are proud of USD’s students, faculty and staff for continuing to prioritize safety as the semester progresses. As you can observe on our COVID-19 Dashboard, the number of current active cases at USD decreased for 12 days, and today USD reported 25 current active student and employee cases.
The downward trend we have experienced is not an indication that we should lessen our efforts; rather, this demonstrates the importance of continuing to follow safe practices. Our diligence regarding wearing face coverings, washing our hands and maintaining distance from others when possible has been effective, and we must remain vigilant to keep the number of current active cases low and avoid a second spike of COVID-19. Please follow the reminders shared by Student Government Association President Abuk Jiel and Vice President Carter Larson as we work together to #ProtectThePack.
We also encourage you to join the conversation about public health by attending “Dose of Knowledge: Answering Your Questions About Vaccines,” a webinar being held tomorrow, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. A panel of experts from USD and Sanford Health will share information about vaccines, addressing both the seasonal flu vaccine and advancements on a COVID-19 vaccine. Faculty, staff and students will receive a link to join the event shortly before it begins. You can submit questions in advance on our website.
Thank you for sharing our commitment to #ProtectThePack and continuing your efforts to sustain a safer environment on campus. Please visit usd.edu/COVID19 to access additional resources, and contact us at COVID19@usd.edu to self-report or ask questions about USD’s response to the pandemic.
