Dear Campus Community,

We are pleased to report that we are seeing a steady decline in the number of active cases on USD’s campus, which indicates the start of a downward trend. Today, USD reported 65 active student cases and five active employee cases – a 70 percent decrease of total active cases from last Wednesday, Sept. 2. This is a testament to the teamwork and dedication our community has exhibited in following university protocols. Thank you for your flexibility and cooperation as we adjusted campus procedures to slow the spread of COVID-19.

While we consider this downward trajectory a success, we cannot become complacent. Please continue to wear face coverings, wash your hands regularly and maintain distance from others when possible as we all work together toward our goal of remaining together on campus through Nov. 24. Following careful and safe practices each day is critical as we work to avoid a second spike of COVID-19 on campus.

Please visit to view the USD COVID-19 Dashboard and access additional resources, and contact us at with any questions.

We are proud of the Coyote community for upholding our commitment to #ProtectThePack. Thank you for your continual efforts to make our campus a safer place.
