The vision of the USD Science of Learning Research Group (SOLRG) is to investigate learning in formal and informal settings through interdisciplinary team projects in order to better understand and improve human knowledge, skills, behavior, dispositions and motivation across the lifespan. The SOLRG aspires to be a leader in the learning sciences by facilitating collaborations between researchers, educators, practitioners, policy makers, and other stakeholders.
The mission of the SOLRG is to conduct research and prepare future leaders in ways that connect science and practice in real-world learning contexts. Our teams investigate human learning as it is embedded within social and cultural learning contexts.
In order to fulfill our mission, we have set the following goals:
- Identify and establish interdisciplinary partnerships between School of Education faculty and others to conduct learning research. Projects focus on learning theory, discipline-specific content expertise and real-world applicability.
- Prepare future researchers, educators and practitioners to investigate, evaluate and facilitate learning experience across multiple contexts.
- Share our research findings and practical applications to a wide audience to best inform future learning research, practice and policy.
