Bio:

My background in nursing includes cardiology and neurology. I have also been involved in student mentoring and orienting and training new nurses. I also have a business degree that has allowed me to have exceptional analytical, management, and leadership skills.

Teaching Interests:

I am interested in nursing education in general because education empowers us to contribute positively in our community and in the world. I believe that everyone has a different style and pace of learning. By helping students to see their strengths and encouraging them of the possibilities, they are capable of learning and succeeding. I want to help students to develop critical thinking skills so that they can practice safe nursing and enjoy what they do.

Research Interests:

I am interested in student mentoring. Mentoring in nursing programs has helped students with retention, improved student confidence, communication, and leadership skills. I would also like to help bring diversity into nursing in South Dakota and USD in general. "Inclusive excellence" is what I strive for, towards "the goal of making it a normal practice within every facet" at USD.
