Bio:

Dr. KC has been employed at the University of South Dakota (USD) as an Assistant Professor since 2015. In addition, Dr. KC currently serves as the Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC) for the department of computer science, and as an active board member of the Council for Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship (CURCS). Before joining the USD, Dr. KC worked as a research fellow at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health (NIH). He worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at the LORIA research centre, Univ. de Lorraine in direct collaboration with ITESOFT, France (industrial partner). He has received his PhD diploma in computer science from INRIA - Univ. de Lorraine (France), MS in Computer Science from Thammasat Univ. (Thailand). Dr. KC has demonstrated expertise in pattern recognition, image processing, computer vision, artificial intelligence and machine learning with various applications in medical image analysis, graphics recognition, document information content exploitation and biometrics. Dr. KC published more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles. It also includes 1 authored book (Springer), edited several journal issues and conference proceedings (Springer), and a book section in encyclopedia of electrical and electronics engineering (Wiley). Dr. KC is an associate editor of International Journal of Machine Learning & Cybernetics (Springer) and Journal of Pattern Recognition Research, serves on the editorial board member of SpringerPlus, International Journal of Computer Vision and Image Processing, Frontiers in ICT: Computer Image Analysis, Cultural Heritage Digitization: Frontiers in Digital Humanities, and served as a review panel for Natural Science and Engineering Research Councils (NSERC) of Canada. He is a regular reviewer for high quality journals (IEEE, Springer, Elsevier) and high quality conferences and workshops (sponsored by IEEE, IAPR and Springer) in the domain.
