The beginning of a semester can bring with it a lot of expenses. We want to help.

To help you pay for your USD Bookstore books and supplies at the beginning of the semester, the University of South Dakota offers a $500 interest-free loan to full-time undergraduate students taking classes at the Vermillion campus. Your books and supplies will be charged to your USD account.

Here's how it works:

1. Undergraduate
2. Full-time student
3. Vermillion campus
4. Taking at least one face-to-face class
5. USD account is in good standing

Loans are available for a five-week period that includes the three weeks before the first day of class in the semester and the first two weeks classes are in session.

How to Participate

  • You must request the loan in person at the USD Bookstore. Not available on purchases made via the Barnes & Noble website.
  • If you are eligible, you will charge your purchases of class books and supplies up to $500. The amount will be added as a line item on your USD bill. No interest or late fees will be charged over the course of the semester.

  • The standard Barnes & Noble return policy applies to books purchased on the charge account, even outside initial five week period.
