September 11-12, 2020

The Great Plains New Music Festival is dedicated to the performance of music of living composers. Hosted on the campus of the University of South Dakota, the festival is open to all solo and chamber musicians and composers wishing to perform their works live. The application-based festival offers a venue to present your works at one of a series of concerts on Sept. 11-12, 2020.

Details

  • Performances should be 20 minutes or shorter in length. Multiple works may be presented in a single application.
  • Composers wishing to apply must provide their own musician(s) to perform.
  • Ensembles will be responsible for all instruments except for piano and large percussion equipment (please specify needs to confirm availability). 
  • There is no fee to apply and no compensation to perform.
  • Limited technical support will be available
  • Application deadline is March 1, 2020

New in 2020: Rawlins Piano Trio Commission Competition

  • A through-composed or multi-movement work not to exceed 12 minutes.
  • 3-4 works will be chosen
  • Performance at the festival by USD’s Rawlins Piano Trio on Friday evening (Sept. 11)
  • There is no fee to apply and no compensation to perform.
  • Limited technical support will be available
  • Application deadline is March 1, 2020
