The Symphonic Choir is a large, select mixed ensemble open to students from all academic areas as well as members of the Vermillion community. The ensemble performs a broad range of repertoire, with a particular focus on both large and small-scale choral masterworks including collaborations with the USD Symphony Orchestra as well as regional professional ensembles such as the South Dakota and Sioux City Symphony Orchestras.
Choir auditions (for both Chamber Singers and Symphonic Choir) will be held on August 26 and August 27 in Timothy Campbell’s office (FA129) in the Fine Arts Building. A sign-up sheet will be placed outside the door. Please sign up for a time convenient to your schedule. The audition will consist of vocalization to determine voice placement, performing "My Country tis of Thee" a cappella, singing a major and chromatic scale, tonal memory exercises and sight singing.
The symphonic choir rehearses Tuesdays from 5:30-7:20 p.m. and is open to students and community members through a choral placement.
