Many scholarships are available to students in the College of Fine Arts, made possible by the generous contributions of alumni and friends.

Scholarships for first-year students are usually administered by the Office of Admissions, although the departments listed below do offer freshman scholarships. Additional information is also available in Financial Aid.

Scholarships for students with declared majors are administered within the respective academic departments; please contact the departments directly for scholarship criteria and application procedures.

College of Fine Arts Scholarships

Matthew P. and Maria Brzica Bachelor of Fine Arts Scholarship

This scholarship is for students in the College of Fine Arts. Preference is given to students who have achieved academically and are from South Dakota.

Donna and Donald Boesch Scholarship

Preference for this scholarship is given to a College of Fine Arts student.

Walter A. and Lucy Yoshioka Buhler Scholarship

One scholarship is awarded each year and alternates between students in the College of Fine Arts and the School of Business. Recipients must be graduates of a South Dakota high school or be South Dakota residents. Incoming freshmen should have a 3. 5+ GPA and/or rank in the top 25 percent of their graduating class and demonstrate financial need. Recipients must commit to participate in a foreign country study experience during their undergraduate years at USD as a condition of receiving this award.

Colton "90" Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the College of Fine Arts.

Fine Arts Scholarship

This award is for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Fine Arts. Students studying at the Black Hills Playhouse are eligible for an award in memory of Pamela Brown. Students in any fine arts major who distinguish themselves for collegial citizenship are eligible for an award in memory of Lenore V. (McConnell) Pulley.

Alwayne Burkhart Gunderson Fine Arts Scholarship

This scholarship is for undergraduate students majoring in theatre or art in the College of Fine Arts.

Harvey and Alwayne Gunderson Scholarship

This scholarship is given to students who are uniformly capable and balanced in studies, sports and activities of other kinds and possessing qualities of leadership.

Louise Hansen Fine Arts Scholarship

This scholarship is provided for students participating in the College of Fine Arts at USD.

Evelyn Lee Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship goes to deserving graduates of Vermillion High School who plan to enroll in the College of Fine Arts at USD. Candidates must have a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher and shall have demonstrated leadership in and out of school. Academic improvement for grades 9-12 may be considered.

Ruth and Gunnar Lindahl Scholarship

Preference for this scholarship is given to a College of Fine Arts student.

Robert E. Litke Fine Arts Scholarship

Students selected for this scholarship shall be enrolled in the College of Fine Arts and studying to be teachers.

Marilyn J. Mabee Fine Arts Scholarship

This award is to provide fellowships to outstanding full-time graduate students who are serving as graduate assistants in the College of Fine Arts. Recipients shall be enrolled in either the USD Master of Fine Arts or Master of Music programs. The scholarship may be used for tuition, research, travel or other usual expenses pertaining to graduate assistants.

Charlotte Picotte Hoellwarth Rabe Scholarship

Preference for this scholarship is given to a College of Fine Arts student.
