Learning Through Differences
We host several cultural outings for students throughout the year, including multi-day trips each semester. In the fall, you'll have the chance to explore the beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota and see some of the state's most iconic aspects: Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, Custer State Park, Wall Drug and more.
The spring trip then provides an out-of-state experience in either Kansas City, Missouri; Chicago, Illinois; or Minneapolis, Minnesota. In any location you'll experience all the food, music and culture that this region has to offer, as well as visit some of its most memorable sites. Past trips have taken students to:
- The Mall of America in Minneapolis
- Willis Tower in Chicago
- The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City
We host free day trips to nearby cities, during which you'll enjoy a meal at one of the local "hot spots," as well as stops at shopping malls and ethnic markets.
Favorite locations include:
- Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska
- Falls Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
- Historic Sioux City, Iowa, sites made famous by explorers Lewis and Clark.
For students who find campus employment, we provide several trips to the local Social Security Office each semester. Also, complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off services are available at the beginning and end of each semester.
